According to the Smart Insight: “Real-time transportation visibility and monitoring offer commercial customers, carriers, suppliers and consumers with real-time insights into orders and shipments once they have left the shipper’s or service provider’s warehouse. Such solutions, owned and managed by third-party software vendors, represent a subsegment of the overall end-to-end supply chain visibility market, predominantly — but not solely — addressing the domestic road transportation mode. Real-time transportation visibility platforms (RTTVPs) obtain data through integration (for example, API and EDI) with carrier systems, direct feeds from telematics (for example, in-cab or trailer devices) or other devices (for example, mobile or smartphone).”
