Improving Reliability, Safety & Accountability

Venture Metals International is a leading global provider of recycling, reclamation, and investment recovery solutions, serving industrial, manufacturing, and service facilities across North America and beyond. With direct access to mills, foundries, and end consumers, the company operates a highly-complex logistics network where safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility are non-negotiable. “Every load we move directly impacts customer production schedules and operational efficiency,” said Fernando Boom, Director of Transportation at Venture Metals. “Reliability, safety, and accountability are core to how we operate.”

Managing thousands of weekly shipments across company-owned assets and strategic third-party partners, Venture Metals wanted a modern approach to visibility… one that matched the scale and criticality of its operations. They were experiencing inconsistent driver updates, a lack of data to help enforce accountability, and no reliable way to view the location and condition of their assets.

“We lacked a single source of truth. If something changed during transit, we were piecing together updates after the fact—instead of managing proactively.”

A $250K Shipment Saved: Venture Metals’ Real-Time Rescue

It started as a routine evening on March 23, 2026—until the phone rang. At approximately 6:00 pm, two calls came in simultaneously. Two Venture Metals employees were both on the line, reporting the same concern: a Tive tracker had triggered an unscheduled light alert on a $250,000 shipment of recycled copper. Boom immediately logged into the Tive platform, and the data confirmed it. He contacted the broker to request photos of the bolt seal on the trailer, but the pictures were inconclusive.

“Once leadership saw real-time movement and light alerts on the map, Tive became a non-negotiable tool for operations.”

Smart Route Deviations Provided the Evidence

Next, Boom next called the driver, but the driver claimed that the Tive tracker wasn’t working properly and that he was where he was supposed to be. Smart route deviation alerts in the Tive platform sounded the alarm: this wasn’t confusion. It was outright deception.

And while all this was going on, Boom was on the road, heading south toward Dallas. They changed course to follow the truck, and based on the data in the Tive platform, they were 45 minutes behind it. Finally, the truck pulled into a truck stop in Wichita Falls, TX. Local police moved in, and the driver was intercepted and detained. Boom arrived 12 minutes later and the entire shipment was saved.

Immediate Impact Through a Fast, Frictionless Deployment

The team launched a 30-day pilot using Solo 5G non-lithium trackers, and the impact was immediate. “Within the first week, the difference was obvious,” Boom noted. “We had real-time insight, improved driver accountability, and operational clarity we’d never had before. Tive helped us solve our visibility problems on day one.”

The simplicity of deployment and ease of use accelerated adoption across the organization. “The platform required almost no training, the trackers worked instantly, and the alerting system gave our team information we had never been able to get before,” said Boom.

“Drivers know we can see the real-time route, dwell times, and deviations. Accountability improved almost immediately.”

Improved Driver Accountability, Proactive Operations and Upgraded Performance

Venture Metals now uses Tive trackers on all high-priority loads, sensitive routes, and lanes with strict customer deadlines, and the live map, geofencing, light alerts, and transit-time tracking enable the team to monitor every shipment from dispatch to delivery. “Our operations teams can now operate proactively instead of reactively,” Boom explained. “We’ve also seen fewer service failures because we can act before a delay escalates, with higher on-time performance and significantly less time spent tracking loads manually.”

The ability to share live tracking links with internal teams and customers further strengthened trust and transparency across the network. Tive has made dispatching, cargo visibility, and customer communication dramatically more efficient for Venture Metals.

Among the biggest benefits are:

  • Fewer service failures via early intervention
  • Higher on-time performance
  • Proactive operations, not reactive firefighting
  • Reduced labor and time spent manually tracking loads
  • Improved reporting and operational analytics

“Tive has delivered measurable value from day one, and we’re proud to partner with a technology provider that understands real-world logistics.”

A Competitive Advantage Customers & Prospects Can See

Beyond internal efficiencies, real-time visibility has become a powerful differentiator for Venture Metals, and sharing real-time tracking links and transparent communication have dramatically improved customer satisfaction. “Sharing live tracking links eliminated the ‘Where’s my truck?’ calls almost overnight,” stated Boom. “Customer trust increased immediately.” That high level of visibility has directly translated into new business. According to Boom, “Tive has helped us strengthen existing relationships and win new business.” He then summed it up simply: “Tive doesn’t just give us visibility: it gives us control. That’s the difference.”
